Attitude

Last night's run was hard.  From almost the very first step, it was hard.  I felt like I was running in slow motion (which, hey, I kind of was).  I was feeling kind of down about myself, but then once I was done, I realized that even though it was hard, I didn't walk or cut the run short, I just kept on going.  I realized I was proud of that effort, that determination.

Then I woke up this morning and logged onto Facebook and this is the first thing I saw:

Well said, Mr. Burfoot.

What rewards does running offer you?

  1. You just had a great run yesterday and it's pretty rare to have two good runs in a row. Weird how things can change in 24 hours though huh. Sorry it was hard!

  2. Sorry you had a rough run :(

However, you are right. It's the journey. Running gives me a chance to have some timke for myself, to focus on myself entirely. It gives me goals to work towards and challenges to overcome.

  3. Sad that not all of our runs can be great!
Glad that you had such a great FB post to read this morning to help you remember what's great about running!!

  4. Sometimes runs are just hard, sometimes they are breezy. But yes, I agree it's about the journey. Some of the best races I've had, I just went out and had fun, and I didn't stress about the time. Sometimes I think about 5 years ago I never thought that running this distance would be possible, look how I have changed.
So don't stress about the small stuff and enjoy it.

    1. Exactly! I keep forgetting that I've finished a half marathon, because it still seems so strange. I am not athletic, never have been. Yet I'm super proud that I've been running for a year and a half and am so glad that I'm still enjoying it!

    1. And it's a good thing, too, otherwise... I mean, I can be kind of dense. LOL
